Flowers & Thorns (or the story of a picture)
A good friend of mine just saw this blog. Her first question was – what about the picture, why this one?
A great question - worth a post!
While I was thinking about writing a blog, and considering names for it, Flowers & Thorns came up. Two reasons why. One which I believe is obvious for those of you who know me in person; it is a good description of me not only my blog. The second is related to design. For me flowers & thorns are a great description of the design process. Flowers in design are about the creation of new things, beautiful things that people enjoy and experience. Thorns are constrains that influence our design tremendously, limit it but also drive us to deliver better solutions (and better experiences). This is what makes UX design interesting and challenging, this is why it is worth writing about it J.
Eventually I decided on a more straightforward name but the picture abide.
* The picture was taken in Ktalav stream, on a day hike a few weeks ago. Around the stream there is a lovely coppice, with many shades of green, flowers and ... thorns. A wonderful creation of nature.
